Radiations generated by the movement of electric charges or by energetic electronic transitions between various quantic states of atoms, molecules or nuclei. They include a very wide range of radiations, which differ only in their wave lengths; in decreasing order these wavelengths, are the the hertzian waves, the infrared waves, visible light, the ultraviolet waves, the X rays and the gamma radiation (Material IV - Glosario de Protección Civil, OPAS, 1992) |
